About Us

OUR MISSION

InTandem is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide tandem cycling programs to people who are blind, have low vision, or cannot ride independently due to other disabilities.

WHAT WE DO

There are few accessible adaptive sport opportunities for people with disabilities to exercise or socialize and we provide both!

  • Evening and weekend rides in Central Park, NYC.

  • Cyclists are matched with a tandem teammate based on skill level, riding preferences, and other factors to help everyone achieve their cycling goals.

  • Training for both captains and stokers ensure safety and fun on a tandem bike.

OUR COMMUNITY

Located in New York City, we welcome you to join our programs and participate in our Rides. We have hundreds of cyclists riding with InTandem and our community continues to grow!

InTandem's History

InTandem is the legacy of Artie Elefant who lost most of his vision due to retinitis pigmentosa at the age of 47. Adapting to a new lifestyle was necessary, but Artie was not prepared to give up on biking and running. Artie joined an adaptive sports organization, where he started their first tandem cycling program.

When the program came to an end,  Artie was determined to fill the void for a disabled community eagerly waiting to get out and ride again. As a result, in 2013, InTandem was born!
